A Flexible Spending Account, or FSA, is a type of tax-advantaged account that allows you to set aside money for eligible health care expenses.
You can use your FSA funds to pay for deductibles, copayments, coinsurance, prescriptions, dental care, vision care, and more.
You decide how much money you want to contribute to your FSA each year, up to a limit set by the IRS. Your contributions are deducted from your paycheck before taxes, which lowers your taxable income and saves you money.
You can access your FSA funds throughout the year with a debit card or by submitting claims for reimbursement. However, you must use up your FSA funds by the end of the plan year or you will lose them. This is known as the "use it or lose it" rule. Therefore, it is important to plan carefully how much money you want to put in your FSA and how you will spend it.
